International Women’s Day 2025

International Women’s Day 2025

International Women’s Day embraces the theme “Accelerate Action”, urging us to move from awareness to tangible change. It’s not just about celebrating women’s achievements - it's about creating the future we want to see. It’s about consciously creating an inclusive culture that empowers everyone to thrive.

Aligned with the United Nations theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” the focus is on unlocking equal rights and opportunities for all, empowering the next generation as catalysts for lasting change.

In order for us to achieve equality for all, we need to accelerate action.

International Women’s Day is more than just a celebration - it’s a global movement. Since its inception, it has stood as a powerful reminder of the courage and determination of women fighting for their rights and striving for gender equality, while building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.

Observed every year on March 8, IWD brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate achievements and advocate for equity. Whether it’s acknowledging the trailblazers of the past or empowering the leaders of tomorrow, this day bridges generations and cultures with one clear message: Equality for All.

Importance and History
of the Day

134 years. That’s how long it could take to close the gender gap.

Scary? Yes.

Unattainable? No.

Not if we think differently. And Accelerate Action.

This International Women’s Day, the theme ‘Accelerate Action’ is a powerful reminder that any progress in gender equality requires urgency, intention, and action.

Despite women making up nearly half the global workforce, only 29% hold managerial roles. From championing women’s leadership to closing pay gaps and fostering digital inclusion, there are clear, actionable steps organizations can take to make a real impact and create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.

International Women’s Day began as a movement in the early 1900s, driven by the fight for better working conditions, voting rights, and women’s rights. It was first officially celebrated in 1911, with over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland joining hands to demand change.

In 1975, the United Nations declared March 8 as International Women’s Day during International Women’s Year, giving the movement a global platform. Since then, it has evolved into a day of reflection, celebration, and advocacy for women’s empowerment.

In 2025, IWD remains as relevant as ever. While we’ve made significant progress, challenges like unequal pay, lack of representation, and societal biases still persist. This day is a reminder that fighting for gender equality is ongoing and that every step forward is a victory worth celebrating women’s achievements.
