It is natural<br \/>It Is what we have, around us, amidst us, within us<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ff06436 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ff06436\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Let\u2019s look at INDIA<\/strong><br \/>28 states, 8 Union territories, 700 + languages, 22 official languages, religious groups, and ethnic groups..<strong>Are we not diverse?<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c3f3e07 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c3f3e07\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Let\u2019s look at people<\/strong><br \/>Gender and ability, Social class and mobility<br \/>Body types and vanity, Neurodivergent or typicality<br \/><strong>We are indeed different<\/strong><br \/>Ideology, biology, mythology, psychology<br \/>Marital status, parental status, Legal status, Societal status<br \/><strong>Everyone is unique<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-00cdf0a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"00cdf0a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Let\u2019s look at Communication styles<\/strong><br \/>Aggressive, assertive, passive, direct, subtle, humorous, extrovert, introvert<br \/><strong>Let\u2019s look at Leadership styles<\/strong><br \/>Autocratic, bureaucratic, democratic, transactional, situational, transformational<br \/><strong>Let\u2019s look at Dressing styles<\/strong><br \/>Formal, semi-formal, casual, semi-casual, modern, traditional<br \/><strong>Let\u2019s look at Lifestyles<\/strong><br \/>Save money, blow money, earn money, invest money, donate money &amp; no money<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5fee10c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5fee10c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are all kinds of beings. And diverse beings. Every being is unique in their own beautiful way.<br \/>And when unique beings come together and don\u2019t appreciate the inherent diversity that exists\u2026 then\u2026<\/p><p>Judgements loom large and Stereotypes trickle in. Assumptions run wild and Bias is at play.<\/p><p>And this BIAS is an Inclusion barrier. As individuals and teams, we need to build our appetite for Diversity. We can do this only when we engage with diversity.<\/p><p>While similarity breeds connection, diversity breeds innovation and growth. We need to first observe and bring awareness to diversity for us to be able to value it<\/p><p>Here are the three C\u2019s that have worked for us in building an appreciation for <a href=\"https:\/\/breathbeings.in\/diversity-inclusion-training.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diversity and inclusion<\/a> in the workplace:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6a87ddd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6a87ddd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>1. <\/b><b>Curiosity:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Curiosity may kill a cat, but can enlighten an individual. Who knows until you actually give it a shot? When you meet an individual;<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask questions about them and their lives. Ask genuine questions, please. It\u2019s easy to tell if you\u2019re faking interest.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talk to them about your life, your identity and your culture. Let there be enough give and take<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t look for common points of connection, but stay amazed by the difference<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understand their context<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb04469 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fb04469\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>2. Circle of affect:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Your circle influences your thoughts and your actions, subconsciously. The more diverse your circle, the better the chances of building an appreciation for diversity. How can you consciously program for a diverse team of people?<\/span><\/p><ol><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ol><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does your circle have people across the gender spectrum?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does your social circle have people from different cultures?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does your circle have people from different age groups?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Does your circle have people who are differently abled?<\/span><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-824a83a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"824a83a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><b>3. Crossing comfort zones: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we go outside what we know and what is familiar, there will be momentary discomfort. Staying with the discomfort while encountering the new can be a great starting point to build appreciation for difference. And this is a two way process. Now that you\u2019ve made efforts to understand and connect to the diversity that exists, there are ways to make your workplace more inclusive, where employees feel and experience a sense of belonging.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diversity is difference<br \/>\nDiversity is a fact<br \/>\nIt is a given.
