Because gaining real progress often requires more than giving opportunities. It shows up in everyday decisions.<\/p><ul><li><b>Who gets described as \u201cleadership material.\u201d<\/b><\/li><li><b>Who gets stretch opportunities.<\/b><\/li><li><b>Who gets called \u201cconfident\u201d versus \u201caggressive.\u201d<\/b><\/li><li><b>Who gets benefit of doubt during mistakes.<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p>Individually, these moments seem small. But their impact is cumulative.<\/p><ul><li><b>Comments about tone.<\/b><\/li><li><b>Assumptions about commitment.<\/b><\/li><li><b>Jokes that reinforce stereotypes.<\/b><\/li><li><b>Questions that subtly undermine authority.<\/b><\/li><\/ul><p>These experiences require emotional labour.
